Company to Supply 40 MW of Additional Solutions to Complete 60 MW Plant in Ontario

BOSTON–(CRWENEWSWIRE)– Satcon Technology Corporation(R) (NASDAQ:SATC), a leading provider of utility-scale power conversion solutions for the renewable energy market, today announced that it has been selected by Q-Cells North America to supply an additional 40 megawatts (MW) of their Prism Platform solutions for the Starwood project in Sault St Marie, Ontario.

The Starwood projects are contracted under the Renewable Energy Standard Offer Program (RESOP) developed and overseen by the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) and will connect to local utility PUC Distribution, Inc. The combined 60MW project, when complete, will be the second largest in North America and among the largest in the world.

Q-Cells will deploy a combination of eight 1.25 megawatt Equinox Prism Platforms and twenty-four 1.25 megawatt Solstice Prism Platform solutions. Prism Platform is Satcons turnkey utility-grade multi-megawatt building block, complete with factory integrated step-up transformers, MV disconnect switches, and power conversion electronics.

The factory integrated building blocks leverage a combination of Satcons next-generation Equinox PV inverters ,with 98.5 percent peak efficiency and the industrys widest thermal operating range, and Solstice Systems, the industrys first complete power-harvesting and array management solution for utility-scale solar power plants.

The project builds on the success of Starwood SSM1, a 20MW installation that came online in October 2010 and utilizes Satcons PowerGate Prism Platform solutions.

  1. A high dividend growth rate is unsustainable if the dividend payout ratio is rising just as fast.
