D8: The Bag O’ Schwag

Time once again for a look inside the D: All Things Digital bag o’ schwag. Before we dig in, a few factoids. The conference this year is at a new venue, the Terranea Resort out at the tip of Palos Verdes peninsula, a $70 mile cab ride away from LAX. It’s a lovely spot, and I’ve somehow landed in a truly embarrassingly large 3-bedroom suite, complete with a garage, a full kitchen and a variety of bathrooms. My family – hell, 3 families – could stay here comfortably.

Anyway, I’ll be here the next few days covering the sessions with the various Steves and other presenters. In between, I can wander around my temporary mansion, and make use of the following:

  • An over-sized blue-and-black D8 canvas bag, perfect for toting around schwag.
  • A roomy two-toned blue polyester button D8 logo shirt.
  • A very nice All Things D logo pen.
  • An NYSE Euronext pen, not nearly as nice.
  • An NPR coffee mug, emblazoned “not another #@$!* totebag”, plus a little bag of chocolates.
  • Thomson Reuters sunscreen, which I’m pretty sure they gave out last year.
  • A LittleBuddy child tracker gizmo from a company called Insignia, which is “powered by Qualcomm.”
  • An AOL notebook.
  • A card to get a pair of personalized Converse Chucks sneakers, signed by the artist David White, courtesy of AOL.
  • The book Lonely Planet’s 1000 Ultimate Experiences.
  • A book called The Mirror Test: Is Your Business Really Breathing? by Jeffrey Hayzlett.
  • A Houlihan Lokey…well, I think it’s tote for two wine bottles.
  • A tote bag emblazoned “Go Green.”
  • A card which says that Microsoft tomorrow morning at 9:35 will do a demo of Project Natal; there will be a “special gift compliments of Microsoft” for registered attendees.
  • Another card that said it guarantees you can be at the top of the list to purchase a Kno product; the stealthy startup is apparently here to demo there student-focused tablet device.
  • A brochure from AMD about their Vision line of processors.

And that’s it. If anything else shows up, I’ll add it to the list.
