AMCC Cuts Q4 View on Wireline Carrier Weakness

Shares of chip maker Applied Micro Circuits (AMCC) are up and down in after-hours trading, first dropping 4% before bouncing back to the unchanged level, and then falling 8%, after the company this afternoon warned its fiscal Q4 revenue for the three months ended in March will come in lower than expected because of “slowness in the service provider space and the overall wire line market weakness.”

The company now sees revenue being $3.1 million lower than the midpoint of its prior forecast, $52 million. That would be below the $52 million average estimate of analysts.

The company now expects a net loss of 10 cents to 12 cents a share, worse than the average 5-cent-per-share loss estimate of analysts.

The company expects to report full results at 5 pm, Eastern, on April 26th.
