SunTrust Banks Inc.�s STI � shares climbed 5.2% after the regional lender reported fourth-quarter earning that topped expectations.
Talbots Inc.�s TLB � shares advanced 18.6% after CNBC reported Golden Gate Capital Corp. and TPG Capital Partners were mulling offers for the retailer.
DeclinersCapital One Financial Corp.�s COF �shares dropped 5.6% after the bank and credit-card issuer late Thursday reported fourth-quarter earnings below Wall Street�s expectations.
Cogent Communications Group Inc.�s CCOI �shares shed 18.7% after the government closed a site hosted by the Internet-service provider.
Google Inc. GOOG �shares declined 8.4% a day after the online-search giant reported fourth-quarter earnings that came in short of estimates.
